A Wintry Mix!

I checked the weather earlier this week and it said to expect a "wintry mix" today so I invited a few of McKay's friends over for a play date fearing what a wintry mix might have in store. When we opened the blinds this morning it was snowing with everything covered in white! It was so pretty and peaceful outside that we just couldn't stay indoors. We have been waiting all season for a decent snowfall so that we could get out and play in it and this was our chance! The moment his friends showed up I put McKay's snow boots on, for the first time, and we all headed for the park. The kids were elated. McKay didn't exactly know how to show his excitement so was scream laughing the whole time we were outside. He kept saying, "Wook mommy, no!" (Look mommy, snow!) with a scream laugh at the end!

It was still pretty early so we had the park to ourselves and the snow was untouched for the most part and perfect for snowballs and building a snowman. We stayed out long enough to finally make a snowman that the kids didn't trample on. The first few attempts were worth the effort just to see their reactions to the, "Wow, big no ball!" as they couldn't fight the urge to stomp on it. We all had a blast! My only regret is that I didn't bring the darn camera. A friend took a picture on her cell phone but I don't know how to add that to the blog. It is darling.

So after McKays' nap we went back out to snap another picture but by then the wintry mix brought rain, lots of kids and lots yellow snow. We got to the park and the snowman was nothing more than a bunch of foot prints and, yep, even some yellow patches. This is the picture I took instead. This kills me because he looks so heartbroken. He got over it fast though and we played out there for a while scream laughs and all!
